The low pressure area (LPA) off Mindanao is expected to enter the country's area of responsibility between Wednesday evening, Nov. 17, and Thursday morning, Nov. 18, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren said the LPA was estimated 1,010 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3 p.m.

She noted that the weather disturbance has a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone at this time.

However, PAGASA will continue to monitor the LPA as it could bring rainy weather over Bicol and Visayas in the next few days.

In the next 24 hours, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and northeast monsoon remain the dominant weather systems that may bring rains over some parts of the country.

PAGASA said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the ITCZ.

Rainy weather may also prevail over Cagayan, Kalinga, and Apayao due to the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan."

PAGASA advised those affected by the ITCZ and amihan to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms or ITCZ.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorm activities may sometimes trigger flash floods or landslides.
