Lorenzana tests positive for COVID-19 anew

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the second time that he got infected.

Lorenzana personally confirmed this on Wednesday night, Nov. 17, after Senator Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri broke the news during a Senate budget deliberation.

"Yes, I am COVID positive," Lorenzana told reporters.

Lorenzana said he underwent swab test on Tuesday afternoon after attending the deliberation of the DND's 2022 budget at the Senate.

He received the result of his swab test only on Wednesday morning.

The Defense Chief said he was already fully vaccinated and not feeling any symptoms as of this posting.

"I’ll observe myself for several days, after that I’ll have another swab," he said.

Lorenzana, who just turned 73 last October 28, first got infected with the coronavirus last April 6.

He serves as the chairperson of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, the country's primary response mechanism to the pandemic, and was tasked to craft the National Action Plan (NAP) Against COVID-19.
