With former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio joining forces for the 2022 polls, the opposition may need to "work hard" and "recalibrate" their campaign strategy.

"It's not the end of the world for them, they can still win the elections and all they have to do is work hard and to recalibrate their campaign strategy based on the new political landscape," Dennis Coronacion, who heads the UST Political Science Department, said in an interview with CNN Philippines.

"Now that we have an alliance that's made up of two political behemoths, they will definitely have to keep a watchful eye on this alliance. So their campaign strategies will have to be recalibrated based on the actions and based on what's happening in the camp of Sara Duterte and Bongbong Marcos," he added.

On Nov. 12, Duterte-Carpio filed her candidacy for vice president as a substitute to Lakas-CMD bet Lyle Uy, who backed out from the vice presidential race.

Shortly after this, Marcos' party Partido Federal ng Pilipinas adopted and endorsed Duterte-Carpio as his runningmate for the 2022 elections.
