LEGAZPI CITY – Beating the last day of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) withdrawal and substitution deadline, former Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando “Nonoy” Andaya Jr., announced Monday, November 15, that he was pulling out his candidacy for congressman of the first district of the province and instead filed his candidacy for the gubernatorial post.

Replacing Andaya for the congressional post bid is his sister Maribel Andaya Eusebio, wife of former Pasig Mayor Robert Eusebio.

Andaya, who is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), replaced Russel Bañez, his former aide de camp who earlier filed his candidacy for governor of the province.

He is challenging Luigi Villafuerte, the younger brother of Luis Miguel “Migz” Villafuerte and son of Second District Rep. Luis Raymond “LRay” Villafuerte.

During a press conference, Andaya announced his resignation as member of the Anduyog Party, a local political party here, and also resigned as the NPC provincial chair.

He handed over the position to Rep. Arlie Fuentebella of the province’s fifth district.
