For almost 20 years, the village of Samahang Maralitang Tabing Ilog (SMTI) in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City has had no electricity.

The Pasig City government helped install a power line in SMTI, Maybunga and when the lights went on, held a celebration with the village on Friday, Nov. 12.

Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Facebook that a total of 27 households and 50 families in SMTI benefited from the installation of power lines

The “Vlog ng Pasig” Facebook page also documented the SMTI celebration.

The local government of Pasig collaborated with the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the One Meralco Foundation, Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo, Engineer Buboy Agustin of the Pasig Office of the Building Official, the SMTI, and the Office of the City Administrator towards bringing power to the village.

Village chief Kaye Dela Cruz has raised the issue of no electricity since 2019.
