Mayor Abigail Binay of the City of Makati has one wish for Christmas: a return to normalcy not just for the sake of big business which has been the lifeblood of the economy, but more for the children of the country’s premier city who have been kept indoors for almost two years now.
She wants the city’s children to return to playing basketball, riding bikes, and go back to school for face-to-face classes.
The COVID-19 pandemic has kept the children indoors and are prohibited to do outdoor activities, including going to shopping malls.
Binay urged parents to register their children for anti-COVID-19 vaccinations.
The city ramped up its vaccination drive to include children aged 12-17 years.
Binay said he will push for the vaccination of younger children, five to 11 years old, before Christmas.
If this happens, she said “a merry Christmas awaits Makatizens.”
