Here’s another fiery piece from the Lava gown designer

Mak Tumang has forever etched his name on the minds of Filipino pageant fans and fashion savants with his remarkable creations for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. Who could forget his Ibong Adarna-inspired gown, or his Waling-waling flower style interpretation, and, of course, the Lava gown that wowed people from different places of the world.

This time, the Pampanga-born fashion designer continues to play with fire as he crafts a dress inspired by the TV show and novel “Game of Thrones.” “The central idea revolves around khaleesi and the power she yields. It is to pay homage to her strength, class, and elegance that the debutante also possesses,” he says.

The dress, which is for a debutant client, pays homage to the aesthetics of House Targaryen, an exiled Great House of Westeros, and the origin of one of the show’s famous characters, Daenerys. Apart from being the “Mother of Dragons,” she is also known as the “Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea.” Khaleesi is a title bestowed to the wife of a khal (chieftain) in Dothraki culture.

His design has intricate beading and embellishments morphed to look like golden dragon scales. The mermaid dress shifts from being gilded to have an ombre at the bottom representing the power of fire. To make it even more dramatic, the dress has long elegant cape sleeves and a sculptural red piece on the bodice that looks like a dancing flame.

Mak definitely knows how to create pieces for girls on fire!
