Muntinlupa City’s active COVID-19 cases dip below 100

Muntinlupa City’s active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have dropped below 100 in the last three days.

Based on data from the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO), as of Nov. 13, the city’s active cases totaled 93, adding only seven new COVID-19 cases for the day, out of 27,519 confirmed cases, 26,851 recoveries and 575 deaths.

On Nov. 12, active cases stood at 98 including 15 new cases, and 90 on Nov. 11, adding nine new cases.

From Nov. 11 to 13, the CHO recorded only 22 new COVID-19 cases. The Muntinlupa City government has been implementing the PDITR + V (Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate plus Vaccination) Strategy to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As Metro Manila including Muntinlupa transitioned to Alert Level 2 from Level 3, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi reminded the public not to be complacent and still follow health protocols including wearing of face masks outside of their residence.

Muntinlupa has Ordinance 20201-109, which requires all persons in Muntinlupa “to wear face masks at all times outside of their residences, at the workplace, when entering government buildings and offices, and while in public places.”

Under the ordinance, adult violators will be fined P300 for the first offense, P500 for the second and P1,000 for the third and subsequent offenses.

If the violator is a minor, a stern warning will be given for the first offense, withdrawal of scholarship grant from the local government or P300 fine for non-grantee for the second offense, and P500 for third and subsequent offenses. The fines will be imposed on the parents or guardians.

On the other hand, Fresnedi and the City Council lifted the mandatory use of face shields in the city.

Under Ordinance No. 2021-290, enacted by the City Council and signed by Fresnedi on Nov. 12, “all persons found in the City of Muntinlupa shall no longer be required to wear face shield outside of residence and in any public or private establishments, except in hospitals and clinics.”

The ordinance stated that “due to high percentage of vaccinated individuals and the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases, the Sangguniang Panlungsod deems it necessary to allow the non-use of face shield in public and private establishments with certain exceptions.”
