VP Leni, Pacquiao visit Cebu

CEBU CITY – Two presidential aspirants were in Cebu on the same day, highlighting the province’s crucial role in the upcoming elections.

Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Manny Pacquiao ramped up their respective presidential bids by gracing several activities here on Saturday, November 13.

In the second day of her two-day visit in Cebu, Robredo, who was accompanied by her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, on Saturday led the turnover of livelihood subsidy to the members of the Mabolo Mahiga Vendors Association.

The Vice President also graced the meet and greet with the Cebuano Volunteers for Leni-Kiko and Bayanihan Sugbuanon Volunteers.

Robredo also spearheaded the oath-taking of Lawyers for Leni and graced the opening of the Sugboanon for Leni-Kiko 2022 Headquarters.

It was the second campaign headquarters for the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem that opened in Cebu City

In a press briefing last Friday, Robredo described Cebu as “very, very important” in her bid to win the presidency.

“If not for Cebu, I could have not won (in the 2016 elections). I still have to work hard so I can earn the trust of Cebu again,” Robredo said.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, met with his supporters and businessmen in Cebu.

Interviewed by reporters at a hotel where he attended meetings, Pacquiao denied speculations that he will back out from the presidential race.

“Nakapag desisyon na ako. Itutuloy natin ang laban. Wala sa bokabularyo ko ang umatras (I have decided. We will continue the fight. It is not in my vocabulary to back out),” Pacquiao said.
