In a major turn of events, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio ditched her plans to succeed her father President Duterte, and will now be running for vice president under the Lakas-CMD party, and as adopted by the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of former senator and presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

And if that surprise was not enough, as of 5 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, the elder President’s trusted aide, has reportedly taken over the presidential candidacy of erstwhile Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) bet Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. Go was even accompanied by President Duterte at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office. Full reports on these developments are to follow.

These major political developments took over the headlines on Saturday.

A giant image of international Filipina singer Lea Salonga is shown in front of the Manila Cental Post Office building in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila, where the Philippine Post Office (PhilPost) unveiled the Living Legends: World Renowned Filipino Series I stamps on Saturday November 13, 2021. Salonga was among the 10 honorees who were honored with commemorative stamps of their own. (Noel Pabalate)
