New biomolecular laboratory inaugurated in Davao




DAVAO CITY - The Brokenshire Molecular Biology Laboratory was inaugurated here on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

In a statement, the city government said the new laboratory can boost the city's testing capacity as it is equipped to process "around 600 swabs per day."

"For this laboratory, the City Government of Davao turned over the following equipment: 1 unit Ultralow freezer w/ AVR,UPS and cryobox drawers, 1 unit Vertical autoclave w/ avr (100L), 1 unit Vertical autoclave w/ avr (50L), 2 units Biosafety Cabinet II, 2 units PCR Hood w/ Laminar Flow, and 3 units of Biomedical Refrigerator," the city government added.

The new molecular laboratory was put up through the efforts of the Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries, Inc., the Department of Health (DOH), and the City Government of Davao.

The laboratory also received Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) machines and RNA extraction machines from the local government.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries Inc. CEO Rev. Rannieh B. Mercado, Brokenshire Hospital Medical Director Dr. Michael Jamiana, DOH Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah B. Dumama Jr., Davao City Health Officer Dr. Ashley Lopez, Asst. City Administrator for Operations Atty. Janis Louis Esparcia.
