‘Descendants of the Sun’ star Jin Goo tests positive for COVID-19


Korean actor Jin Goo, one of the main stars of the hit Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun,” tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"Jin Goo was diagnosed with COVID-19 and is currently being treated in an isolation facility," said Varo Entertainment, the actor’s agency, Korean media reported.

The agency added that since the time of his test, he has been asymptomatic and contact tracing is ongoing.

Jin Goo was tested for COVID-19 while he was preparing for his next project. He was confirmed to have the virus on Nov. 1.

"There is no need to worry. We will actively follow the guidelines of quarantine authorities," his agency said.

The 41-year-old actor debuted in 2003 in the drama “All In.” He gained popularity through the 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun” in which he played the role of Master Sgt. Seo Dae-young. The drama starred Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo.

Last Oct. 24, Korean actress Kang Ye-won tested positive for COVID-19 after getting vaccinated.

“She tested negative on Oct. 21 but was still feeling sick, so she voluntarily took another test on Oct. 23 and received a positive test result the following day. She is following the health guidelines and self-quarantining at home,” said her agency, J,Wide-Company, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.

On Instagram, she reminded people to be “be careful because I’ve been fully vaccinated, but I still got it.”

She will star in the drama “Only One Person,” which will air on JTBC in December.
