Tricycle driver, cohort nabbed in QC drug bust

Police arrested a tricycle driver and his companion during a buy-bust operation that resulted in the seizure of P217,600 worth of shabu in Quezon City on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Police Maj. Wennie Ann Cale, chief of the Quezon City District (QCPD) Drug Enforcement Unit, identified the suspects as Richard Martinez, 30, a resident of Barangay West Kamias, and Misraim Mamauag, 26, of San Pedro, Laguna.

The duo were arrested during an entrapment operation on K-H Street in Barangay West Kamias, at around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Recovered from them were 32 grams of shabu, P17,000 buy-bust money, and a cellphone used for the drug deal.

The QCPD launched the buy-bust after receiving a letter from the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (QCADAAC) and officials of Barangay West Kamias regarding the illegal drug activities of Martinez and Mamauag.

The two suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
