Every year for a decade, artist Jae Valencia pays tribute to his father by painting his tomb with the things that are relevant or reminiscent of him.

Valencia said his father died of a heart attack in 2008 due to smoking and drinking.

He added that his father was also a "plantito," basketball fanatic, and liked singing and playing instruments, so Valencia often paints designs usually connected to his father's interests and hobbies.

"I never got the chance to show him where I am now and how far I've become as an artist, but I hope wherever he is right now, he is proud of me," Valencia said.

"I know it's late and I will never see his reaction with my artworks. So if you still have the chance to show your parents how much you love them, do it."

Currently, commissioned artworks and murals are one of Valencia's sources of income.
