Dumaguete City and Lubang town in Occidental Mindoro were classified at “critical-risk” level for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the OCTA Research group said Thursday, Oct. 28.
In its latest monitoring report, OCTA said the seven-day average in cases in Lubang rose to 58, equivalent to an average daily attack rate of 290 per 100,000 population.
The reproduction number, which refers to the average number of secondary infections by each infected individual, in the island town has also soared to 3.61.
“Lubang is considered critical risk using indicators based on covidactnow.org,” OCTA said.
It noted that the classification may not reflect the alert level rating used by the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task Force.
OCTA said the positivity rate of those tested for the virus in Lubang stood at critical 37 percent.

Dumaguete, on the other hand, has been classified at critical risk, with a reproduction number of 1.34 and a daily attack rate of 26.47 per 100,000 individuals.
Healthcare utilization rate in the capital of Negros Oriental was at high 83 percent while its intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy was at critical 95 percent.
The city’s positivity rate was at critical 28 percent.
Meanwhile, the independent research group reported that Zamboanga City, La Trinidad and San Mateo in Isabela were classified at “high-risk” level.
But it noted that cases in Zamboanga City and La Trinidad were now on a downward trend.
