Pasig business licensing examiner nabbed for extortion


A Pasig business licensing examiner was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted at the Pasig City Hall Business Permit Licensing Office in Barangay San Nicolas on Friday, Oct. 22.

Police identified the suspects as Rannie Sibala Galang, 33, a business licensing inspector at Pasig City Hall, a resident of Barangay Kalawaan in Pasig; and his cohort, Kevin Hancel Siat, a city hall employee, who remains at large.

Galang extorted from a woman P8,000 when she tried to secure a business permit.

The woman reported the extortion to the Pasig Mega Market Administration who reported it to the Pasig Mayor’s Office.

An entrapment operation was then conducted against Galang by operatives of the Pasig Community Police Station.

They will be charged with robbery extortion, violations against the Anti-Red Tape Act (RA 9485) and of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees act (RA 6713).
