Olsim replaces Hirata in ONE grand prix semis


Team Lakay's Jenelyn Olsim earned the biggest prize of her ONE Championship career so far after replacing Itsuki Hirata of Japan to face Indian rising star Ritu Phogat in the semifinals of the women's atomweight grand prix in ONE: NEXTGEN at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday, Oct. 29.

ONE Championship announced the development through a social media post Monday, Oct. 25 as Stamp Fairtex is also back in contention against Brazilian foe Julie Mezabarba of Brazil.

Phogat and Stamp, meanwhile, remained as the atomweight fighters from the original semifinal roster.

Hirata and Seo Hee Ham of South Korea were forced to the sidelines due to injury.

It is still unclear if Olsim will still fight original opponent Jihin Radzuan of Malaysia in the second installment of ONE: NEXTGEN on Nov. 12.

Olsim was initially pitted against Radzuan in an alternate bout for the tournament.

The grand prix winner gets a chance for the atomweight title belt over reigning champion Angela Lee.
