PH logs 5,279 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) posted 5,279 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The new cases brought the total number of active COVID-19 cases nationwide to 60,957.

Based on the latest case bulletin, 77.5 percent of the active cases were mild, 6.1 percent were asymptomatic, 2.1 percent were critical, 5.1 percent were severe, and 9.20 percent were moderate.

The DOH also confirmed that another 7,312 patients recovered from the viral illness, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,654,173.

Also, 208 more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 41,793.

“Twenty-three duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 16 are recoveries,” the DOH said.

“Moreover, 154 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

Since the pandemic began, the Philippines has already confirmed 2,756,923 cases of COVID-19.
