MB Daily News Update October 23

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio continues to sow intrigue in the national political scene despite her supposed decision not to run for a national post in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

Duterte-Carpio, daughter of President Duterte, took to Facebook to post photos of her and presidential aspirant, former Senator Bongbong Marcos. The two were apparently together in Cebu, where they both attended the birthday party of Tingog Party-List Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez.

Duterte-Carpio's meeting with Marcos has fueled speculation that a 2022 tandem between the two may be in the works.

Meanwhile, #LeniKiko2022 top-trended in the  Philippines Saturday following the nationwide parade held by supporters of the opposition tandem composed of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

As expected, the parade made copious use of the color pink, Robredo's trendy poltical color.

As for motorists, there seems to be no relief in the horizon as another hefty fuel price increase is likely to be imposed next week.

These are among the top stories this busy Saturday afternoon, October 23, 2021.
