EMN'98 releases debut single 'Hulog' under O/C Records

EMN'98

Singer-songwriter and The Next Odd Creature grand winner, EMN’98, has released her debut single under O/C Records.

‘Hulog’ captures a heightened feeling of anguish and woe caused by a “toxic” and “abusive” relationship. Inspired by the artist’s personal experience, Hulog speaks about the intricacies of pain and heartbreak.

“We all have different kinds of pain, different circumstances, different stories, but we have something in common and that is when everything painful rushes to us, we hurt. We can’t deny the fact na nasasaktan tayo and I want them to feel na ayos lang ‘yon. Walang masama masaktan, malungkot, o magpadala, Sabi nga ng iba, minsan ang susi sa pagiging at ease mo eh sumabog ka. I want my listeners to feel that it’s okay to feel vulnerable at times and everything will get better. Hindi laging galit ang dagat,” shares EMN’98 as she talks about the message she aims to share with her listeners through this single.

'Hulog' track cover

EMN’98 recalls that this track became an instrument where she unloaded her “anger” and “pent up emotions” during those sorrowful circumstances. She adds, “Hulog saved me from everything.”

Hulog has played a significant role in EMN’98’s music career. In her first appearance at The Next Odd Creature, she performed this track and left a good and lasting impression on the judges — signaling her unique flair in singing and songwriting.

Now releasing this track as her debut single under O/C Records, the TNOC grand winner shares that while there were no alterations on the original arrangement and composition of Hulog, a music video for this heartbreaking song is already in the works.

Arranged and produced by Reeve Aquino, Hulog is available for streaming on all leading digital music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
