Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez has only positive words for Lacson

Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez on Wednesday, Oct. 20 vouched for the leadership skills and moral strengths of Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer Senator Panfilo Lacson during a recent training of political officers event held in her hometown Ormoc City.

A total of 85 participants—52 project officers and 33 barangay healthcare workers—from Ormoc City and other municipalities on the western side of Leyte were present for the activity, which was also graced by Partido Reporma secretary-general Edwin Jubahib. This is the continuation of the grassroots movement that started in January 2021 under “We Need A Leader, 2022.”

At present, Partido Reporma is on schedule with its target of roughly 1,600 activated community organizers for Lacson in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao by November 2021.

With corruption in government as one of the biggest election issues, the billions of pesos worth of questionable deals of Pharmally with the government still fresh in the minds of the public, Torres-Gomez pointed out that Lacson is one of the legislators with a corruption-free political track record, highlighted by the fact that he never accepted his pork barrel since he got himself elected into public office.

Lacson is also known for dismantling and defeating criminal syndicates, fixing the PNP when he was police chief (1999-2001), strictly implementing a no-take policy for policemen, and fighting for his anti-corruption advocacies in the Senate.

Given the health and economic crisis that the country faces, Torres-Gomez also reminded the participants of the event to be smart about exercising their right to vote during the 2022 national elections and for them to choose candidates based on their capability to address the pressing problems of our nation while strictly adhering to the principles of good governance.
