Here’s something for your hump day sweet craving

Since 1945, Max’s Restaurant has been the home of “sarap to the bones” fried chicken that many generations of Filipinos have known and loved. But when it comes to satisfying sweet cravings, its buko pandan and Max’s Corner Bakery’s caramel bars are the go-to specials. As it celebrates its 76th year, the homegrown restaurant reimagines its diner-favorite desserts by turning them into pocket pies.

Caramel and Buko Pandan pies

Starting October 2021, Filipino diners have a new way to savor its classic sweet treats. The Buko Pandan Pie presents a light, flaky pastry crust filled with fresh buko meat in creamy sweet pandan sauce. Not to miss is the Caramel Pie that is packed with luscious caramel custard filling, echoing the taste of its soft and chewy inspiration.

A piece costs P79. But if it’s “bitin,” a box of five may be purchased for P389.
