Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) Director Karl Laqui said on Wednesday that it is important for minors to be protected against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
"In a pandemic, it is important that everybody should be given protection and one of those is through vaccination. Regardless whether the patient is an adult or minor, they should all be vaccinated," Dr. Laqui said in a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
"It has become imperative that minors also have to be vaccinated the soonest," the hospital director added.
The Manila city government continues to prepare the upcoming vaccination for minors aged 12 to 17 years old.
Based on the data by the Manila Health Department, about 41,316 minors have already pre-registered at the manilacovid19vaccine.ph website.
The OOMC will be the pilot hospital for the inoculation of minors in the city.
The hospital director also said that the staff of OMMC "observed and participated" in the vaccine rollout at the Philippine General Hospital "to strengthen their knowledge."
"The vaccination team of the hospital's Infection Control Committee will be in-charge of the inoculation process for minors once the city government of Manila begins its vaccine deployment," according to the city government.
Dr. Laqui urged the people to trust and believe in them, and said: "We have nothing but the best intentions for you and your child. This is our commitment to make you all feel better."
Parents can register their children in two ways — under their account and add them under “family” or register them separately.
