Staunch transport advocate and Stop And Go Coalition President Jun Magno has passed away, his family confirmed Tuesday.
He was 67.
In a text message, his niece Irene Magno said the transport leader passed away last Oct. 13 while being treated in hospital.
Irene said her family is currently in need of financial help to get Magno’s remains.
“His ash [is] still at St. Bernadette Funeral in Pasig City. We are still collecting and asking for financial help to get his ash,” Irene said.
Meanwhile, Magno’s colleagues in the transport industry mourned his death, adding that he has been one of the advocates who relentlessly fought for the rights of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, as well as the riding public.
“Sa matagal na panahon, ipinaglaban ni Ka Jun ang pag-angat ng kalidad ng pamumuhay ng mga miyembro ng Coalition, at ang pagbibigay ng komportable, convenient at accessible na serbisyo sa mga pasahero (For a long time, Ka Jun fought for raising the quality of life of his members and providing comfortable, convenient, and accessible services to passengers),” Bayaning Tusper Partylist said in a statement.
“Hindi matatawaran ang kanyang mga naging kontribusyon sa pagsusulong ng pag-unlad ng pampublikong transportasyon (We recognize his contributions to the development of the country’s public transportation sector),” it added.
