Rap music artist Kanye West changes name

Just call Kanye West by his new name: “Ye.”

The rapper had successfully changed his name after the “Stronger” singer petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Rolling Stone reported that Judge Michelle Williams signed the petition recently. Kanye West applied for the name change back in August (24th) citing “personal reasons” and not giving much details for the change.

Back in 2018, the artist formerly known as Kanye West was interviewed by radio show host Big Boy and said, “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it’s I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from being Kanye, which means only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.”

With the legal change, the musician also “yields a middle or last name. It’s just Ye,” Rolling Stone reports.

Ye's most recent album is called "Donda."
