Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, together with his wife Marjorie, Ang Probinsyano Party List (APPL) Rep. Alfred Delos Santos and APPL member Michael Chua, attended the Educational Assistance Project on Oct. 13, 2021 at Conception Elementary School.

The event forged the ties between Marikina City and APPL, as this was organized with the combined efforts of Ang Probinsyano Party List, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Marikina LGU.

According to Mayor Marcy, this has not been the first time that APPL reached out its helping hand to the city.

“Ilang beses nakipag-ugnayan. Ilang beses nakipag-usap.

The 400 beneficiaries were all equally given P5,000 in cash. The requirements that the beneficiaries produced, to be qualified are as follows: a resident of Marikina through a barangay certificate; currently enrolled in a 4-year college course; 18 years old and above; and certification from the barangay that the beneficiary comes from an indigent family, whose household income is P10,000 and below.

Mayor Marcy shared a conversation he had with one of the beneficiaries: “Aktwal na nakakatulong at immediate ‘yung effect ng tulong na ito. Kanina, may nakausap akong isang magulang. Anak niya, nag-aaral ng nursing. Marami raw kailangang bilhin.

All 16 barangays of Marikina City were represented in the payout. They were divided into four groups and given a specific schedule for claiming their educational assistance.

For each hour, 100 beneficiaries were catered, resulting to a very orderly and crowd-free procedure.

Mayor Marcy expressed happiness over the gratitude that the beneficiaries have shown, the number of students who benefitted in the project, and the organized way that the cash assistance was executed.

During the event, he announced a proposed partnership with Ang Probinsyano Party List.

“Ino-offer ko nga sa Ang Probinsyano Party ang isang partnership, sa bahagi ng Marikina City at ng Ang Probinsyano Party List na ‘yung 400 beneficiary natin ngayong araw ay tulungan on a semestral basis, hanggang makapag-graduate ang bawa’t isa sa kanila,” he said.

To this proposed partnership, Rep.

In his known-for humble disposition, Mayor Marcy countered back: “Cong Alfred, maraming salamat muli. Lodi kita!”
