BACOLOD CITY — A government employee in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental died after she was shot by two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects in Barangay Palampas on Monday, Oct. 18.
Killed was Maria Elena Peque, 40, of Barangay 2.
Police Lt. Ruby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said Peque was riding a tricycle on her way to the City Hall, when the assailants tailed and shot her.
Peque suffered a lone gunshot wound in her ear. She was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Aurita said they are eyeing land conflict as possible motive behind the killing.
Aurita said the victim’s husband was also gunned down early this year due to land conflict.
Police suspected that the perpetrators were armed with a .45 caliber pistol.
