219 former drug users complete Navotas rehab program

A total of 219 persons who used drugs (PWUD) have completed the "Bidahan" anti-drug program of the Navotas City government, on Oct. 14.

“We are glad that our fellow Navoteños have decided to change their ways. We are also happy for their families and loved ones. To our graduates, feel free to reach out to us or your counselors any time. Changing for the better is difficult but we are here to support you as you strive to overcome your challenges,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

According to the city government, among the individuals who finished the program are 13 children in conflict with the law (CICL).

Navotas Anti-Drug Abuse Council (NADAC) conducted six months of online and limited face-to-face counseling for the former PWUDs.

The graduates are reminded to be mindful of their decisions even after they have finished the program.

Meanwhile, 51 previous graduates also finished the six-month aftercare program and follow-up counseling.

The Bidahan program features relapse prevention, counseling for different groups and couples, and lectures about mental health awareness.

A total of 1,075 individuals have already participated in the community-based treatment and rehabilitation program since it started in October 2016.
