Mayor Zamora: San Juan City all set for 'Undas 2021'

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora assured the public on Monday that the city is ready for the upcoming “Undas 2021”.

Zamora conducted an inspection at San Juan City Cemetery to make sure all health and safety protocols are in place and the cemetery is ready to receive visitors.

“Last year, this was very effective in preventing super spreader events so we decided to once again implement the online booking for appointments to the cemetery to make sure we avoid having the usual crush during Undas,” he said.

The local government announced on Thursday the launch of its appointment system for the upcoming Undas 2021 to ensure that the public health and safety protocols will be observed during the event.

The system is in line with the local government unit’s Executive Order (EO) No. FMZ-093, Series of 2021, which closes all public and private cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbariums in the city from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.

The EO also prohibits “Trick or Treat” activities and other Halloween events.

Zamora said that the EO aims to prevent the clustering of people in cemeteries and the children from participating in any Halloween activity that could cause COVID-19 transmission.

“Upang masiguro ang maayos na pagdaraos ng Undas 2021 at masunod ang health and safety protocols na ipinatutupad ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) minabuti ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng San Juan na muling isagawa ang appointment system sa ating pagbisita sa mga yumao sa ating sementeryo (To ensure the orderly celebration of Undas 2021 and compliance to the health and safety protocols mandated by the IATF, the city government of San Juan will once again use the appointment system during our visit to our dearly departed at the cemetery),” Zamora said.
