Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto has started preparing for the first-ever virtual Legislation Week in the city.
The city government will launch an information campaign to educate the public about the role of the Local Legislative Department that will show the advocacies and accomplishments of the City Council from Oct. 19 to 22.
Sotto stressed the importance of the education to the public, especially to the youth, to be able to participate for a better Quezon City with a good and transparent government.
“Our city government, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, encourages our citizens, especially the younger generation, to use their voice and become more active in our community. But all these will be futile without education. We need to educate and equip ourselves in line with our goal to serve our city and country,” Sotto said.
“Education breeds transparency. When citizens are informed, it creates an atmosphere of transparency that forces our elected officials to be accountable for their actions. It is our citizens’ weapon against any abuse of power,” he added.
The virtual QC Legislation Week will be streamed via Sotto’s official Facebook page every 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. daily.
