Parks, Nagoya repeat over Ramos, Toyama


Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins repeated over the winless Toyama Grouses, 99-74, in Division I of the Japan B.League at the Toyama City Gymnasium Sunday, Oct. 17.

Parks led the Dolphins with 17 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists, while Scott Etherton, Cody Clarke, Takumi Saito, and Tenketsu Harimoto all scored in double-digits and combined for 52 markers.

Leading 49-42 in the 7:39 mark of the third quarter, Nagoya zoomed with an 8-2 run en route to a commanding 57-44 advantage capped by a Shane Whittington three-pointer.

Parks continued the offensive assault by firing five free throws to gain a comfortable 62-44 lead with 5:03 left.

Nagoya unloaded a 6-0 run led courtesy of Parks and Tatsuya Ito to pull away for good and never look back with still 8:34 left in the payoff period

Joshua Smith paced the Grouses with 13 points, six rebounds, and one assist while Ramos, who was limited to six points in his debut game Saturday, Oct. 16, chipped in nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal this time around.

Nagoya improved to a 3-3 record with its third straight win while Toyama remained at rock bottom with a 0-6 slate.

Parks and the Dolphins will face the Kiefer Ravena-led Shiga Lakestars (4-1) next weekend while Toyama will battle the Ryukyu Golden Kings (4-2).
