Robredo gets support in Cebu City motorcade

CEBU CITY – A fight between good and evil.

This was how supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo described her bid in next year’s election.

With their vehicles adorned with pink and blue ribbons as well as balloons, supporters of Robredo held a motorcade here on Saturday, October 16, to show their support to Robredo’s presidential bid.

“She is good. We have here to battle evil. It’s basically it, it’s good versus evil,” a supporter of Robredo who only identified himself as Albert said.

“This started out as gathering of friends from various backgrounds. We don’t have an organization. Then we agreed to support the vice president with her decision to finally run because we believe she can help the country,” The motorcade kicked off at 1 p.m. the Redemptorist Church in uptown Cebu City and was scheduled to end with a mini program at Fuente Osmeña Circle at 4 p.m.

At least 80 vehicles joined the motorcade based on the control numbers posted on the windshields.

Some supporters waited along the motorcade’s route and joined the convoy.

Necessary permits were obtained for the activity, Albert said.

“A lot of people showed up, we hope to have less to start but we were happy so man y joined. Maybe we can extend the message out that people want to get united because those who attended this have various backgrounds. We are happy to support the vice president and the future president,” Albert said.

Among those who joined were “lot of medical practitioners, a lot of businessmen and students.”

“There are housewives too. We don’t have organization but everybody is welcome, we want to be as inclusive as possible,” Albert added.

Albert said they are hoping that more people will rally behind Robredo, believing that has the qualities to effectively lead the country.

He also asked Robredo’s supporters to avoid engaging in troublesome way of campaigning.

“As our future president said, don’t pick fights, just talk to the other parties. Start at home, campaign among the families,” he said.
