Police dragnet operation nabs 2 men who took taxi from driver


The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested two suspected carnappers in a dragnet operation on Friday, Oct. 15.

Fairview Police Station 5(PS 5) officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Colonel(PLTCOL) Joewie Lucas said that the victim, Sammar Odin, 42, a taxi driver, reported the incident after the suspects had driven off with his taxi cab after forcing him to get off the vehicle. The suspects had acted as passengers .

Odin had picked up the suspects as passengers at a gas station along Tandang Sora St., Quezon City, at around 1:30 a.m.

They forced him to get off the vehicle while they were on the way to a mall in Fairview.

After the victim's report, the QCPD conducted an operation blocking all checkpoints within the area, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspects.

The police identified the suspects as Ramil Olalia, 42, a resident of Sta. Cruz, Manila, and Anthony Faeldon, 28, from Brgy. Pasong Tamo.

Authorities recovered the Toyota Vios taxi, a replica of a .45 caliber handgun and an improvised icepick.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Law, and R.A 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act will be filed against the suspects.
