Filipino fighter Jeremy Miado is set for a rematch against Chinese foe Li Tao Miao in their strawweight bout in ONE: NEXTGEN on October 29 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Miado is raring to duplicate his knockout win against Miao last November 2019, where the Filipino warrior connected a lethal jumping right knee that left the Chinese outcold down the canvas.
Despite the hiatus, the 28-year-old Miado assured that his approach remained the same and also improved some of his gears while training with Marrok Force in Bangkok, Thailand.
He is joined by compatriots Zamboanga siblings, Denice, the top-ranked women's atomweight fighter, and Drex.
"People can say whatever they want to say, but my approach is always the same. I'm always motivated to show that I belong here in ONE and I deserve to be one of the best fighters in the strawweight division," said Miado, who owns a 9-4 record.
In Marrok Force though, Miado honed his ground game skills to counter Miao's wrestling prowess.
Miao had a 1-1 record against Ryuto Sawada after his bout with Miado and squared off with former strawweight world champion Alex Silva but lost to a tight unanimous decision.
The Chinese fighter, for his part, currently holds a 6-4 slate.
"Miao improved a lot in his game, especially in his wrestling. I can see that he's a lot more careful now in his posture and that would really give me a hard time in this rematch with him," said Miado.
"This won't be an easy fight for me because we already know each other very well and I know that he's motivated to redeem himself from that knockout loss and get back at me."
