446 QCPD detainees receive COVID-19 jabs

A total of 446 persons under police custody (PUPCs) received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Thursday.

The QC government initiated the program and it was led by the QCPD District Medical and Dental Unit.

According to QCPD, a total of 109 detainees were inoculated in Camp Karingal on Thursday, Oct. 14. Sixty-one of them are from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), 12 from the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), 29 from the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), and seven from the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU).

Earlier this week, 337 inmates from La Loma Police Station (PS 1) and Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) also got their COVID-19 jabs.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government is committed to protecting all of the people against the dreaded disease.

"Ang pagbabakuna sa ating mga PUPC ay nagpapakita lamang na wala tayong kinikilingan sapagkat hangad ko na ang bawat residente dito sa ating siyudad ay mabakunahan upang maging ligtas sa banta ng nakamamatay na virus na ito (The vaccination of our PUPCs only shows that we are fair because I want every resident here in our city to be vaccinated and to be safe from the threat of this deadly virus),” she said.
