Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo revealed on Thursday, October 14, the opposition senatorial slate is already complete, with representatives hailing from groups outside the once-ruling Liberal Party.
Speaking at the Rotary Club of Manila’s virtual membership meeting, Robredo said they have already finalized their senatorial line-up, although she is not authorized to reveal the list for now.
“After we announce our senatorial slate, you will see that our slate is composed of representatives from many different parties,” she said.
The vice president declined to give the names of the senatorial aspirants, but she noted only three candidates are from the LP, which she chairs.

The opposition leader earlier announced that detained Senator Leila de Lima and former Ifugao representative Teddy Baguilat Jr. are among the LP senatorial candidates.
Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, and former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV of Magdalo Party will be guest candidates.
According to Baguilat, Robredo is in talks with former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, Federation of Free Workers president Sonny Matula, and lawyer and author Alexander Lacson of the Kapatiran Party.

Robredo is running as an independent candidate next year, which she has described as a "symbolic" way of showing she is open to alliances with other parties.
Part of this is forging an inclusive senatorial line-up for a “broad coalition.”
“My decision to run as an independent was really to send a very important message that we are open to those who want to join our cause—to share our vision of better governance for the country,” she said.
Robredo went on to say that the 2022 elections “is not just about me or our party or between the personalities, it’s really the collective power of the people.”
