TACLOBAN CITY – Some heroes proved that they do not need to wear capes when they saved two drowning children amid the huge waves and strong current in Calbayog City, Samar.

The Philippine Coast Guard personnel in Calbayog City rescued the children that were struggling on the huge waves and were having trouble swimming to the seawall in Brgy. Rawis.

The Philippine Coast Guard-Calbayog showed true heroism when they braved the huge waves to save 2 minor siblings from drowning in Calbayog City, Samar, Wednesday (Oct. 13).

They were identified as Mark Gerol Llever, 11, and his brother John Wilson, 6, both residents of Brgy. Aguit-itan.

It was learned that the siblings were swimming in their barangay when they encountered huge waves.

They were drifted to Brgy. Rawis where a foreman spotted them and reported to the Coast Guard.

The PCG personnel immediately swam with tied ropes on them. The children were pulled off the water safely.

They were turned over to the barangay officials after learning that they were in good physical condition despite the incident.
