P351,000 worth of illegal logs seized in Bulacan

Authorities seized some P351,000 worth of illegal logs and arrested four suspects during an anti-illegal logging operation at Sito Sumacbao, Barangay Kalawakan, in Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The operation was conducted by members of Doña Remedios Trinidad Police and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office at about 5 p.m..

Col. Manuel M. Lukban Jr., acting Bulacan police director, identified the arrested suspects as Christian Lungalong, July Tamayo, Aldrin Jay Berin, and Rodel Dayson, all residents of Pias, Gen Tinio, Nueva Ecija.

The operatives seized from the suspects illegally cut Lauan and Tangile lumbers.

The recovered pieces of evidence are now in the custody of CENRO Baliuag.

Appropriate criminal charges will be filed against the suspects, police said.

Lukban said that while in the midst of COVID-19 crisis, Bulacan police will remain unrelenting in implementing its intensified campaign against all forms of criminality.
