Mayor Emi to support IATF decision on next alert level in NCR

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city government will follow the decision of the Inter Agency Task Force on the next alert level that will be imposed in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Metro Manila is under Alert Level 4 until Oct. 15.

According to city Public Information Office (PIO) chief, Jun Burgos said whether the IATF downgrades the alert system to Alert Level 3 or retains the Alert Level 4, the city government is ready to follow.

He said the mayor believes the IATF is conducting a careful study on the reproduction rate of COVID-19 in the NCR before coming up with a decision for the new alert level.

On Tuesday, Metro Manila Council (MMC) chairman, Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced that mayors in the NCR will not give any recommendation on the next alert level measures.

He explained that downgrading the alert level in Metro Manila will still depend on the data collected by the Department of Health.

The mayor earlier announced that 80 percent of the target eligible population in the NCR are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The MMC is hoping that by early November, Metro Manila will achieve herd immunity.
