Malacañang has assured the public of the concerned agencies' response as far as the effects of tropical storm "Maring" is concerned in some provinces in Northern Luzon.
"The Palace is closely monitoring the ongoing operations for tropical storm "Maring" as it continues to move away from extreme Northern Luzon," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement Tuesday, Oct. 12.
"We ask the public to continue to take precautionary measures, observe minimum public health standards, and cooperate with their respective local authorities in case of an evacuation," he said.
According to Roque, rescue personnel and teams from the local government units (LGUs) are "on the scene as we assure all requests for rescue and assistance are being acted upon by all relevant agencies".
He said support from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) "are likewise mobilized and deployed".
As of Oct. 12, 2021, 6 a.m., 465 families or 1, 585 persons in Regions 2 and 8 have been pre-emptively evacuated, the Palace mouthpiece noted.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has more than P128 million in stand-by funds as of Oct. 10, 2021, Roque bared.
"In addition, there are 373,737 available family food packs worth more than P219 million," he said.
"Power and water supply restoration and clearing operations of roads are ongoing in affected areas, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)," he further said.
