43 vie for various positions in Rizal Province


Forty-three persons are vying for local elective positions -- from governor to members of the Provincial Board and House of Representative -- in Rizal Province in next year’s elections. The figure does not include candidates for mayor, vice mayor, and Sangguniang Bayan/Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The office of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Rizal said six individuals filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for governor, and four others for vice governor.

 Twenty-two individuals are aiming to become members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan while 12 persons are hoping to get congressional seats in the first to fourth district of the province.

Among those who want to become governor are former Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog and Governor Casimiro ‘Ito’ Ynares, Jr., husband of incumbent Rizal Governor Rebecca “Nini” Alcantara Ynares.

A certain King is one of the four individuals who want to be elected as vice governor.

Former Metro Manila Development Authority General Manager Jojo Garcia is among the three congressional aspirants in San Mateo.

Five hopefuls, including television and movie actor Victor Neri and incumbent Congressman Fidel Nograles, are vying for a congressional seat representing the last  district, which is Rodriguez (Montalban).

Rizal Comelc supervisor Atty. Arnulfo Pioquinto told Manila Bulletin that he is hopeful that the entire election process in the province would be peaceful and orderly.
