TNC Pro-Team shut down Onic Philippines with a 2-0 sweep for a winning exit in the MPL Philippines Season 8 on Sunday, October 10.
Only fighting for pride after bowing out of playoff contention, TNC left everything in its final game and stunned the No. 2 seed Onic to end the season with a victory.
It wasn’t an easy win though as TNC had to overcome two close games, the last one even reaching a season record 41-minutes.
Ben "Benthings" Maglaque, who provided the plays for TNC in the two games, was happy that his team delivered a victory in its final game of the season.
“Sobrang saya kasi hanggang dulo pinipilit po namin manalo para sa mga sumusuporta sa amin at masaya sa feeling na natapos naming yung MPL run namin na panalo (We're so happy because we really wanted to win for our supporters. We're happy that we ended our MPL run on a high note),” Benthings said in the post-match interview.
The TNC’s roaming/support saved his best game of the season for Game 1 where he dictated the tempo for his team using his Franco finishing with a 3-2-15 KDA.
His timely pick-offs on Allen "Baloyskie" Baloy’s Claude and Marky "Markyyy" Capacio’s Natan shut down Onic’s double marksman setup to secure a 25-11 victory in the series opener.
Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo took the MVP honors of that game with an efficient 2-1-11 scoreline on his Pharsa.
Riding the momentum from Game 1 win, TNC also dominated Onic in the early to mid-game of Game 2.
The team, however, had a hard time breaking Onic’s defenses anchored on Markyyy’s Chang’e and Baloyskie’s Yve dragging the fight past the previous record of 38 minutes.
A crucial pick-off on Kairi’s Fanny in the top lane and a fifth luminous Lord for the side of TNC spelled the difference in Game 2 which ended in a 24-20 tally.
Landher "Der" San Gabriel on his Paquito was the MVP with a 4-2-6 record while Benthings on his Mathilda added a 1-1-14 stat line.
TNC finished the season with a 4-10 record at the eighth spot while Onic ended its regular season with a 9-5 standing.
