Four hundred and fifteen persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, including 61 personnel, registered as qualified voters in the 2022 elections, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

In a statement, BuCor said the PDLS registered last Sept. 22 when the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Muntinlupa City went to the NBP to conduct the registration.

It said the PDLs who registered are detained at the NBP’s Maximum Security Compound.

“Director General Gerald Q. Bantag is grateful to the Comelec for the opportunity that PDLs under can exercise their right of suffrage,” it said.

Prior to the registration, BuCor said “Comelec personnel had Rapid Antigen Testing before entering the administrative building,” while the PDLs who registered were subjected to temperature checking and sanitation.
