NGCP sets 12-hour power interruption in Bacolod, Negros Occ. on Saturday


BACOLOD City – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced a 12-hour power interruption in some parts here and in Negros Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 9, as part of its preventive maintenance.

In an advisory of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), the NGCP will shut down its Bacolod-Silay 69kV transmission line (TL) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. that will affect Ceneco’s Burgos, Mt. View, Talisay, Panaogao and Silay substations.

The NGCP will conduct preventive maintenance schedule of 100MVA Transformer No. 1 and associated HVE, including its protective relays and secondary devices, and integrity testing of fault clearance system, correction of oil leak at main tank, OLTC and cooling fins.

The firm will also conduct relocation of pole structures inside Bacolod substation for Bacolod-Silay 69kV line to give clearance to the new 69kV bus, and load transfer of Mt. View, Talisay and Panaogao substations from Bacolod-Silay 69kV transmission line to Cadiz-Silay 69kV TL.

Ceneco, meanwhile, said they shall take advantage of this downtime by implementing simultaneous maintenance activities.

Ceneco will also conduct opening and closing of 69kV airbreak switch at Purok Kasoy, Barangay Mandalagan, here to facilitate isolation of portion of 69kV transmission line, replacement of rotten 69kV transmission poles for safety, preventive maintenance of Burgos substation, correction of hot spot at load side of power transformer and restoration of aerial ground wire inside the substation, preventive maintenance of Lopez substation, correction of hot spot at load side of power transformer of detached 69kV insulators, and tree clearing activities.

Normal operation will immediately resume after completion of the said activities.
