Gordon files COC for Senate reelection

Senator Richard Gordon on Friday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to seek another term in the Senate.

Gordon, however, was not present in the filing as he needs to tend to his immunocompromised spouse, Katherine. He was represented by his lawyer Inky Reyes, during the official filing.

“It has been an honor serving the people over the last five years, but there is so much more to be accomplished,” Gordon said.

“I am seeking re-election because there is still a lot of work to do for this great country,” he added.

“Ito ang nais ko: maging instrumento para sana magkaisa. Kahit anong kulay ka, kaliwa ka man o kanan, sa harap ka man o sa likod — magkakasama tayo. Walang maiiwan (This is what I want: to be an instrument for unity. Whatever your color is, whether you are from the left or right, front or back—we need to be united. No one should be left behind),” he stressed.

Gordon is currently leading the Senate blue ribbon committee’s investigation on the government’s deals with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation, which is embroiled in the alleged overpriced purchase of COVID-19 pandemic supplies.

The senator has earned the ire of President Duterte as he and other senators dig deeper into the controversy where the Chief Executive’s former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang is also allegedly involved.
