Drug den dismantled; tanod nabbed in Pateros


Police operatives dismantled a suspected drug den in Pateros in a buy-bust operation conducted Thursday.

According to the Pateros police, the drug den was located on P. Rosales Street, Brgy. Sta Ana, Pateros.

Four drug suspects were arrested in the operation. Police identified them as Marvin de Guzman, 44, barangay security force (tanod); Reynaldo Reyes, 52; Mark de Guzman, 42; and Renato Tavira, 38, all residents of Pateros. The police said that Marvin was the target of the buy-bust and alleged that he was the maintainer of the drug den.

Confiscated from the operation were six plastic sachets containing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing about 51.10 grams with an estimated value of P357,000; one P500 bill used as buy-bust money; five bundles of transparent plastic sachets; and drug paraphernalia.

On the other hand, the Muntinlupa police’s drug enforcement unit personnel arrested a 39-year-old man for possession of suspected shabu.

The police were conducting monitoring in PNR Site Purok 3, Brgy. Bayanan in Muntinlupa at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday when they saw Sofronio Cabanting, 39, a resident of the barangay, holding a plastic sachet containing the suspected shabu. The illegal drugs weighed about 6 grams with an estimated value of P40,800.

All the drugs were turned over to the Southern Police District Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis. The suspects are under the custody of the police and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
