Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has left the country's area of responsibility at around 11 a.m., Tuesday.

PAGASA said the center of Maring was last spotted at 505 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph while moving westward over the West Philippine Sea.

However, due to the wide circulation of Maring, several areas in Luzon may still experience rains and gusts in the next several hours.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") is about to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) but may still bring stormy weather over northern Luzon and parts of Central Luzon on Tuesday, Oct. 12, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA said Maring was last spotted at 315 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.

The storm has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph while moving westward at 20 kph.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") continues to move away from extreme northern Luzon.

PAGASA said the center of Maring was estimated at 230 km west of Calayan, Cagayan at around 7 a.m.

It has maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph while moving westward at 25 kph.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has slightly intensified and is now over the West Philippine Sea, the PAGASA said.

The center of severe tropical storm Maring was located 170 kilometers (km) west of Calayan, Cagayan at around 4 a.m.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph while continuously moving westward at 20 kph.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") continues to move westward over the sea north of Ilocos Norte.

The PAGASA said the center of Maring was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Burgos, Ilocos Norte at around 4 a.m.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph while moving estward at 25 kph.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has made landfall over Fuga Island, Cagayan at 8:10 p.m., said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 10 p.m., the center of Maring was already over the coastal waters of Aparri, Cagayan. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph while moving westward at 15 kph.

PAGASA said Maring may still pass close or over the Babuyan Islands in the next few hours.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has passed very close to the south of Camiguin Island in Cagayan province on Monday evening.

The PAGASA said the center of the severe tropical storm was last spotted over the coastal waters of Aparri, Cagayan at around 7 p.m.

PAGASA maintained that Maring may pass "very close or over the Babuyan Islands" in the next few hours, but had not ruled out the possibility of landfall over the northern portion of mainland Cagayan or Ilocos Norte.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph while moving westward at 25 kph.

The center of severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") was estimated based on all available data at 105 km east-northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 120 km east-southeast of Calayan, Cagayan.

It maintained its maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph while moving westward toward Babuyan Islands.

Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northern portion of Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

Signal No. 1 also remains in effect in the rest of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, northern portion of Bataan, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, and Calaguas Islands.

Severe tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") moved faster and inched closer to the extreme portion of northern Luzon.

The PAGASA maintained that Maring may traverse across the Luzon Strait between Monday afternoon, Oct. 11 and Tuesday early morning, Oct. 12, and pass "very close or over the Babuyan Islands" Monday afternoon or evening.

However, PAGASA has not ruled out the possibility of landfall over mainland northern Cagayan or a close approach over Batanes.

As of 1 p.m., Monday, the center of the severe tropical storm was located 150 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Aparri, Cagayan, or 170 km east-southeast of Calayan, Cagayan.

Tropical cyclone "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has intensified into a severe tropical storm hours before its expected close approach or landfall over the extreme portion of northern Luzon.

As of 10 a.m., the center of the severe tropical storm was located 240 kilometers (km) east of Aparri, Cagayan, or 265 km east-southeast of Calayan, Cagayan.

Maring is now packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph while moving westward at 15 kph.

The PAGASA maintained that Maring may traverse across the Luzon Strait between Monday afternoon and Tuesday early morning, Oct. 12, and pass "very close or over the Babuyan Islands" Tuesday evening.

However, PAGASA has not ruled out the possibility of landfall over mainland northern Cagayan or a close approach over Batanes.

Tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") will likely approach the Luzon Strait between Monday afternoon, Oct. 11 and Tuesday early morning, Oct. 12, and pass very close or over the Babuyan Islands without ruling out the possibility of landfall over mainland northern Cagayan or a close approach over Batanes, PAGASA said.

However, it pointed out that a slightly earlier passage over the extreme northern Luzon remains a possibility, considering the storm's faster movement over the past couple of hours.

However, PAGASA has not ruled out the possible landfall over mainland northern Cagayan.

PAGASA raised tropical cyclone wind signal number 2 over six areas in Luzon as tropical storm "Maring" starts to move west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of Cagayan.

As of 4 p.m., the center of tropical storm "Maring" was estimated at 645 kilometers (km) east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, or 655 km east of Aparri, Cagayan.

PAGASA said Maring maintained its maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph while moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.

The storm may traverse the Luzon Strait and pass close or over the Babuyan Islands between Monday evening, Oct. 11, and Tuesday, Oct. 12.

However, PAGASA maintained that the possibility of landfall over mainland Luzon is not ruled out at this time.

Tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") has merged with the remnants of tropical depression "Nando" and started moving north-northwestward over the Philippine Sea before Sunday noon.

PAGASA raised tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 over 17 areas due to the anticipated direct effect of the merger cyclone.

As of 10 a.m., the center of tropical storm Maring was estimated at 730 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City.

Maring remained a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph before Sunday noon.

5 a.m., Oct. 10

Tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 has been raised over nine areas as tropical storm "Maring" (international name "Kompasu") continues to assimilate the remnants of tropical depression "Nando."

PAGASA said Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northeastern portion of Isabela, Eastern Samar, eastern portion of Northern Samar, eastern portion of Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

As of Sunday morning, Maring remained a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph, while moving northward at 10 kph.

Its center was estimated at 665 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes at around 4 a.m.

11 p.m., Oct. 9

PAGASA estimated the location of the center of tropical storm Maring at 670 km east of Virac, Catanduanes.

The storm has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph while moving north-northwestward at 30 kph.

Due to the anticipated direct effect of Maring, PAGASA has raised tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 over Eastern Samar, eastern portion of Northern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte in its 11 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin.

5 p.m., Oct. 9

The center of tropical storm "Maring" (Kompasu) was estimated at 745 kilometers (km) east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 840 km east of Southern Luzon.

It maintained its maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph while moving eastward at 20 kph.

In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Maring and tropical depression "Nando" will continue to interact with each other in a potential merger event.

Afterward, the resulting merger, likely dominated by Maring, will move generally west-northwestward until Monday, Oct. 11, before turning westward by Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Based on the latest forecast track, the storm will cross the Luzon Strait and pass over or close to Batanes and Babuyan Islands between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

It maintained its strength packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph while moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.

PAGASA is still seeing a possible merging of tropical storm Maring and tropical depression "Nando" while over the Philippine Sea.

Tropical storm Maring, being the larger cyclone, will likely persist in the "merger event," it pointed out.

Tropical storm "Maring" remains a "large" cyclone, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It is moving east-northeastward at 15 kph.

The location of the center of the storm was estimated at 875 kilometers (km) east of Catarman, Northern Samar at around 4 a.m.

PAGASA said the interaction between Maring and tropical depression "Nando" may result in the merging of the two cyclones into one within the next 36 hours.

Storm Maring, being the larger cyclone, will likely persist in the "merger event," it pointed out.

The storm may traverse the Luzon Strait and pass over or close to Batanes and Babuyan Islands between Monday evening, Oct. 11, and Tuesday morning, Oct. 12, based on the latest forecast track.

PAGASA said Maring became a "large" tropical storm, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph while moving east-northeastward at 15 kph.

It estimated the location of the center of storm Maring at 715 kilometers (km) east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, or 790 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar at around 10 p.m.

"Tropical storm Maring is forecast to move northeastward, then northwestward in the next 36 hours as it interacts with the circulation of the tropical depression, which may end up in a potential merger. Afterward, the storm is forecast to track west-northwestward on Sunday (Oct. 10) through Tuesday morning (Oct. 12) towards Luzon Strait," PAGASA said.

"On the forecast track, Maring will cross the Luzon Strait and pass over or close to Batanes and Babuyan Islands on Monday or Tuesday," it added.

5 p.m., Oct. 8

Tropical depression "Maring" has maintained its strength but may weaken and merge with another tropical depression currently outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next few days, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said Maring retained its maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph while moving erratically east-northeastward at 10 kph.

It estimated its location at 715 kilometers (km) east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 640 km east-northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar at around 4 p.m.

Several areas in northern Luzon may be placed under tropical cyclone wind signals by Saturday, Oct. 9., as tropical depression "Maring" continues to move erratically over the Philippine Sea.

PAGASA said Maring has slightly intensified packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph while moving southwestward at 15 kph before Friday noon.

As of 10 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 495 kilometers (km) east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 400 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA said the trough or extension of tropical depression "Maring" is expected to bring light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in the next several hours as the cyclone moves erratically over the Philippine Sea.

In the last six hours, Maring maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving southward at 10 kph.

It estimated the center of the tropical depression at 595 kilometers (km) east of Virac, Catanduanes or 540 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar at around 4 a.m.

State weather bureau PAGASA said tropical depression “Maring” continues to move erratically over the Philippine Sea east of Southern Luzon.

It was last spotted 585 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 10 p.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) neatr the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, while moving east southeastward at 15 kph.

State meteorologists warned that Maring may bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Eastern Visayas until Friday, Oct. 8.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the low pressure area (LPA) east of Daet, Camarines Norte intensified into tropical depression “Maring” on Thursday afternoon.

“At 2 p.m. today, the low pressure area east of Daet, Camarines Norte developed into tropical depression ‘Maring,’” PAGASA said.
