Mayor Olivarez files COC for congressman; to switch post with younger brother


Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Thursday, October 7, for congressman to replace his younger brother, at the Paranaque Commission on Election (Comelec).

Running for congressman for District II will be Gus Tambunrting.

The mayor’s younger brother, District I Rep. Eric Olivarez also filed his COC for Paranaque City mayor.

The younger Olivarez was accompanied by his wife, Aileen Claire, and eldest son Jed in filing his COC for mayor.

His running mate is former Councilor Binky Favis, and candidates for councilors are: for District 1 -- Pablo “Paolo” Olivarez, Toki Baez, comedienne actor Vandolf Quizon, Marvin Santos, Pablo Gabriel, actor Jomari Yllana, Allen Tan, and Rene Velarde.

For District II, the candidates for councilors are Bong Benzon, Ryan Yllana, Rico Golez, Tin Esplana, Beng Amurao, Nina Sotto, Joaqui Bustamante, and Jey Frias.

Olivarez said he will continue the projects and brand of service of his older brother to better serve the city residents.

Paolo, the oldest son of the older Olivarez, is helping his uncle Eric in continuing the works that will be left behind by his father. Paolo has been seen going around the city giving food baskets and medicines to residents affected by the pandemic.
