149 inmates in Leyte Regional Prison get COVID-19 vaccines

One hundred and forty-nine persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) have received their first dose of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said the vaccinations were done last Sept. 30 by the Department of Health Regional Office VIII (DOH-RO8) in the medium and minimum-security classification areas with priority to senior citizens with comorbidity.

“One LRP personnel was also given the said vaccine,” it said.

There are now a total of 831 PDLs and 66 personnel who have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines in LRP.

BuCor said that as of last Aug. 31, a total of 3,384 PDLs from its prison facilities have received their vaccinations.

Those vaccinated included 3,100 PDLs at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 214 at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Zamboanga; and 60 at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), it said.
