The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, Sept. 29, approved the extension of voter registration until Oct. 30.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the extension was "unanimously" approved by the En Banc.

"Extension is from Oct. 11 to 30, Monday to Friday, no Saturdays, except for the last day (Oct.30), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m." he said in a statement.

In an online press briefing, Jimenez said, all types of registration services will be offered during the registration.

"Most of the registration will still be conducted in Comelec offices, but there are still mall registration sites," he said.

"Online reactivation still an option," added Jimenez.

The poll official, meantime, announced that the registration of overseas voters is also extended for two weeks.

"Registration of overseas voters is extended for two weeks - Oct. 1 to 14," Jimenez said.

"Note that for overseas voting, the filing of COCs (certificate of candidacy) is not an issue, thus the extension starts immediately," he added.

Comelec has set the filing of COC for the May 2022 polls from Oct. 1 to 8.

The voter registration period was supposed to end on Sept. 30.
